Firstly, I have to thank Proserpine for allowing me to guest post on her blog. Real talk - I haven’t ‘known’ her very long, but in that short time I’ve found her to be full of awesome. I’m glad our internet paths crossed. So, thank you, Proserpine. I truly appreciate the opportunity to talk with your readers about Susanne Bellamy’s White Ginger.

Honestly, I don’t have much contact with an author during a book’s production. As the publisher of Lyrical Press, I’m behind the scenes - or back of the house - working to expand our reach, grow our audience, listen to what readers want from a publisher - and from an author. I’m stressing over trying to predict reading trends so we can have available to our readership those books they want when they want them, and basically, do a myriad of other daily tasks such as royalties, non-editing book production, website changes, etc... And yep, I love being THAT hands on. It keeps me connected to the house, so even if I don’t personally ‘know’ every Lyrical author, I can guarantee I know each one by name and can list every one of their Lyrical books.

I step in during cover creation. If you venture to Lyrical’s site, you’ll see most of the covers were created by me (with help from the very talented Valerie Tibbs, as well as the occasional guest artist). That’s when I get to roll up my sleeves and finally have my chance to work one-on-one with Lyrical’s authors.

Susanne Bellamy was such a pleasure to work with. White Ginger is set in Hawaii, a place I’ve always wanted to visit, so I had the chance to use soft, beautiful pastels against a gorgeous beach scene. It took me no time at all to create the cover for White Ginger because I had a pretty good idea of what Susanne wanted when I went into this part of the project. I also knew how I’d like this work represented. It was just a perfect cohesion between Susanne and me.

So, without further ado, I’ll step aside and allow White Ginger to speak for itself.
